Central Dairy Ice Cream Parlor
A traditional ice cream parlor since 1930 and a local favorite throughout the Midwest. One of Missouri’s oldest and prominent ice cream shoppes, especially during the Great Depression. Providing 50 different ice cream flavors and 27 traditional. It has now become part of the National Register of Historic Places.
Many of its employees have been dedicated workers who started when they graduated high school and remained until they retired.
The parlor has not changed in over 80 years, where everything is all original. Down to the walls and white tile, old fashioned wooden booth and its signature red logo. Local regular customers enjoy seeing everything that stays as is, and despise anything new (even remodeled cabinets that were literally falling off!).
Central Dairy is so beloved, customers will wait in line for doors to open at 8am. Customers come daily, weekly or monthly, some just depend on what new flavors come out they enjoy taking for a taste test, or even for a traditional fountain soda.
Central Dairy is located on Madison and Dunklin St., Jefferson City, MO.
